The Zimmerberg Base Tunnel 2 will create new capacity on the Zurich–Zug route. ILF is leading the engineering consortium and is responsible for planning, tendering, and construction management.

Technical Data
- Two single-track tunnels, length: each 10.8 km
- Excavation: TBM excavation ø9./ NATM excavation
- Double-shell lining with precast segments and in-situ concrete lining
- One emergency and escape shaft, as well as 21 cross connections to be used as escape structures
- Two railway infrastructure buildings
- Cut-and-cover sections, pre-cut with excavation support
- Geology: rock and soil
- Connections while keeping the railway line open (underground at Zimmerberg Base Tunnel 1 and open track section)
