Cethana Pumped Hydroelectric Energy Storage

A PHES plant with a capacity of 750 MW and a storage capacity of approx. 22 FLH is proposed in the north of Tasmania. The project involves the construction of a turkey’s nest upper reservoir and the existing Lake Cethana to be used as lower reservoir. An underground waterway and underground cavern powerhouse complex are planned.
