Overview
Eppenberg Tunnel
To eliminate the bottleneck on the 6 km-long Olten–Aarau section of the Bern–Olten–Zurich railway line, SBB is upgrading the railway line to four-track operation, a project which includes the 3 km-long Eppenberg tunnel.

- Advance: TBM (Ø 12.78 m) – mix shield TBM for rock and soft ground (slurry)
- 2 shafts and 1 adit as escape structures
- Double-shell lining with precast segments and in-situ concrete lining
- Geology: rock and soft ground
- Cut-and-cover section, fly overs in the connection area
- Construction pit with support
- Connection of new line to existing line during railway operation
